The Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary was published by the joint-stock publishing company of the same name in Saint Petersburg between 1890 and 1907. The publication was issued in two formats: 41 main volumes and 2 supplementary volumes, or 82 main and 4 supplementary half-volumes. The encyclopedia contains 121,240 articles, 7,800 illustrations, and 235 maps.
