Andronov Nikolai Ivanovich

Nikolai Ivanovich Andronov (1929–1998) was a People's Artist of the Russian Federation, a master painter, and a key representative of the 'Severe Style'. He studied at the Moscow Secondary Art School, the Repin Institute, and the Surikov Institute. He gained nationwide fame with his painting 'Log Drivers' (1961). Andronov was an accomplished monumentalist, creating works for the Pechora cafe, the Oktyabr cinema, and the Izvestia publishing house (USSR State Prize, 1979). In his easel painting, he is known for a cycle of works dedicated to the Russian North, particularly Ferapontovo. His works are held in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and other major museums.
