Udaltsova Nadezhda Andreyevna
1886 — 1961
Artist Nadezhda Andreyevna Udaltsova. She attended the Moscow studios of K. F. Yuon (1906) and K. Kish (1909–1911), worked in the studio of V. E. Tatlin, and later continued her education at the Académie La Palette in Paris under A. Le Fauconnier and J. Metzinger (1912). Udaltsova was a member of the Supremus society and an assistant to K. S. Malevich at VKhUTEMAS. In 1921, she left INKhUK in protest against the dominance of production art, which effectively marked her departure from the avant-garde. A long period of working from nature followed. From 1934, the artist's works were not exhibited (with the exception of a small-scale showing at the Romen Theatre in 1945).
