Romas Yakov Dorofeevich

1902 — 1969
Yakov Dorofeevich Romas was a Soviet painter and master of decorative arts, People's Artist of the USSR (1965), and full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1958). He graduated from Vkhutemas-Vkhutein (1924–1930). He participated in the decoration of Moscow's central squares, the Central Lenin Museum, and the Soviet pavilion at the 1939 New York World's Fair. He served as the chief artist of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (1950–1954). His easel painting focused on landscape-genre compositions featuring vast water expanses ("On the Raft," 1947, USSR State Prize, 1948). He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd class.
