Grigoriev Sergey Alekseevich

Sergey Alekseevich Grigoriev was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1951), and full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1958). He studied at the Kiev Art Institute under F. G. Krichevsky, where he later taught (becoming a professor in 1948). His genre paintings, focusing on themes of morality and youth education, influenced the development of the Soviet genre style. He was a two-time recipient of the USSR State Prize (1950, 1951) for his works "Admission to the Komsomol," "The Goalkeeper," and "Discussion of the D-minus."
