Pozhalostin Ivan Petrovich

1837 — 1909
Ivan Petrovich Pozhalostin was an engraver and educator, known for his engravings based on works by Russian and Western European masters. In 1857, he entered the Academy of Arts in the class of Professor F. I. Iordan. In 1868, he received the title of Class Artist of the 1st degree for the engraving "Philaret, Metropolitan of Moscow," and in 1871, he became an academician for his work "Bearing of the Cross." From 1872 to 1877, he was a pensioner of the Academy of Arts in France and England. In 1880, he became an honorary free associate of the Academy of Arts, and in 1892, he was awarded the title of professor.
