Pokhitonov Ivan Pavlovich

Ivan Pavlovich Pokhitonov (1850–1923) was a Russian painter and a master of miniature landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. From the mid-1870s, he lived primarily abroad, studying in Paris under N. D. Dmitriev-Orenburgsky and A. P. Dobrolyubov. In 1904, he was awarded the title of Academician for a series of panels depicting battles of the Russo-Turkish War. He was a member of the Society of South Russian Artists (from 1891) and the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (from 1905), and a full member of the Academy of Arts (from 1904).
