Ostroukhov Ilya Semyonovich

1858 — 1929
Ilya Semyonovich Ostroukhov was a landscape painter, public figure, and collector. In 1880, he studied under A. A. Kiselev; in 1881–1882, he attended evening sessions with I. E. Repin; from 1882 to 1884, he studied at the private studio of P. P. Chistyakov; and in 1886, he was an auditor at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. From 1891 to 1903, he was a member of the Peredvizhniki (TPKhV), later joining the Union of Russian Artists (SRKh). He served as a Council member (1898–1903) and trustee (1905–1913) of the Tretyakov Gallery. From 1906, he was a full member of the Academy of Arts. In 1918, he was appointed life curator of the Museum of Icon Painting and Painting.
