Mikeshin Mikhail Osipovich

1835 — 1896
Mikhail Osipovich Mikeshin was an artist, draftsman, illustrator, and painter. He is best known as the author of monument projects such as "Millennium of Russia" in Novgorod, Admiral A. S. Greig in Mykolaiv, Bohdan Khmelnytsky in Kyiv, and Catherine II in St. Petersburg. From 1852 to 1858, he studied at the Academy of Arts under B. P. Villevalde. In 1858, he was awarded a large gold medal for his painting "Count Tilly at Magdeburg in 1631." He became an academician in 1869 and an honorary member of the Lisbon Academy of Fine Arts.
