Voloshin Maximilian Alexandrovich

Maximilian Alexandrovich Voloshin (1877–1932) was a symbolist poet, critic, essayist, and artist, and one of the most significant figures of the Russian Silver Age. He was educated in Paris, attending lectures at the Sorbonne and studying in the Louvre. He traveled extensively in Europe and lived in Koktebel. As a representative of Art Nouveau culture, Voloshin sought a synthesis of the arts, combining literary work with painting. His artistic legacy consists primarily of watercolor landscapes of Crimea. His works are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the M. A. Voloshin House-Museum in Koktebel, and private collections.
