Savitsky Georgy Konstantinovich
1887 — 1949
Georgy Konstantinovich Savitsky was a painter, a full member of the USSR Academy of Arts, and an Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 1915, he graduated from the Higher Art School under the Academy of Arts in Petrograd (in the studio of V. E. Makovsky) and also studied under F. A. Roubaud. From 1947 to 1949, he taught at the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute and was appointed professor in 1948. He specialized in battle painting depicting the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War, as well as historical-revolutionary and animalistic genres.
