Savinov Alexander Ivanovich
1881 — 1942
Alexander Ivanovich Savinov was a painter. From 1901 to 1941, he studied at the Higher Art School under the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg under D. N. Kardovsky. He taught at the Petrograd State Free Art Workshops (1918) and the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1922–1942). He worked on thematic canvases, portraits, and monumental murals. He was an active participant in the revolutionary student movement of 1905–1907. After the October Revolution, he participated in organizing an art university in Saratov and establishing a studio of monumental painting there.
