Roubaud Franz Alekseyevich
1856 — 1928
Franz Alekseyevich Roubaud was a prominent battle painter and the creator of the famous panoramas "Defense of Sevastopol" and "Battle of Borodino." From 1865, he studied at the Odessa Drawing School, and from 1877 to 1883, he attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under J. Brandt. In 1891, he was awarded a professorial diploma by the Munich Academy of Fine Arts for his panorama "The Siege of Akhulgo." From 1904 to 1912, he headed the battle painting workshop at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. He became an academician in 1908 and a full member of the Academy of Fine Arts in 1910. He frequently organized Russian sections at international art exhibitions in Munich.
