Oehme Eric
1889 — 1970
Eric Oehme was a German sculptor born in Neuberhelsdorf. He studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts starting in 1913, specializing in sculpture. From 1912, he occasionally worked for porcelain factories in Nymphenburg, Volkstedt, and Lichte VEB. In November 1912, he joined the Meissen manufactory, where he advanced from an assistant sculptor to head sculptor in 1936. He is best known for his highly realistic and meticulously crafted animal sculptures. He frequently worked with 'Böttger stoneware' (boettger steinzeug), which produces a smooth, matte surface.
