Ural Tansykbayev was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the USSR (1963), and a full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1958). He graduated from the Penza Art School in 1929. His early works are characterized by epic monumentality. From the 1940s, his style evolved toward greater tonal depth and realistic conviction. Tansykbayev celebrated the nature of Uzbekistan through landscapes marked by a vibrant, modern spirit. He was also active as a theatrical designer and a monumentalist, notably creating murals for the Uzbek SSR pavilion at VDNKh (1952–1954). He was awarded the Order of Lenin and various other state honors.
