Savitsky Mikhail Andreevich

Mikhail Andreyevich Savitsky (1922) was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the Byelorussian SSR (1972), and Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1973). He graduated from the V. I. Surikov Moscow Art Institute (1951–1957). His work is dedicated to the heroic exploits of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. Notable works include 'Partisan Madonna' (1967), 'Bread' (1968), 'Death Penalty' (1969), and the mural 'Patriotic War. 1944' in Minsk. He was a laureate of the State Prizes of the Byelorussian SSR and the USSR.
