Modorov Fyodor Alexandrovich

1890 — 1967
Fyodor Alexandrovich Modorov (1890–1967) was a painter and educator, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts, People's Artist of the RSFSR, and Honored Artist of the BSSR. He studied at the Kazan Art School under N. I. Fechin and P. P. Benkov, attended F. I. Rerberg's studio in Moscow, and graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (V. E. Makovsky's studio). From 1918 to 1923, he served as the director of the art and industry school in Mstera. He was a member of the AKhR (since 1923), rector of the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute, and a professor. He participated in major regional exhibitions in Ivanovo. His works are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery and other major museums worldwide.
