Labas Alexander Arkadyevich
1900 — 1983
Alexander Arkadyevich Labas was a Russian painter, a representative of expressionism, and one of the most original masters of the OST group. He studied at the Stroganov School under F. F. Fedorovsky, in the studio of I. I. Mashkov, and at VKhUTEMAS. He was one of the founders of the Society of Easel Artists (OST) in 1925. In the 1920s and 1930s, he experimented with non-objective art and constructivism. In the 1970s, he returned to abstraction. His works are represented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and regional museums.
