Gaponenko Taras Guryevich

Taras Guryevich Gaponenko was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the RSFSR (1968), and corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1954). He studied in Moscow at Vkhutemas-Vkhutein (1924–1930) and was a member of OMAKhRR, AkhRR, and RAPH. His works are primarily dedicated to the life of collective farm villages, including "Collective Farm Women Going to Work" (1933, Tretyakov Gallery) and "In the Bird Town" (1959–1960, Russian Museum). The painting "To the Mothers for Lunch" (1935, Tretyakov Gallery) played a significant role in the development of Soviet genre painting. For his dramatic work "After the Expulsion of the Fascist Occupiers" (1943–1946, Tretyakov Gallery), he was awarded the USSR State Prize (1947).
