Sveshnikov Dmitry Konstantinovich

Sveshnikov Dmitry Konstantinovich (1912–1997) was a painter, People's Artist of the RSFSR, Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR, and corresponding member of the Academy of Arts. He graduated from the Leningrad Art and Pedagogical School in 1937. He worked at the Northern Fleet Theater and served as chairman of the Arkhangelsk branch of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR starting in 1967. He is known for his depictions of the lives of the peoples of the Soviet North and his portraiture. He was awarded a silver medal by the USSR Ministry of Culture for his painting 'Master of the Tundra' (1958), as well as the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Star.
