Shukhmin Pyotr Mitrofanovich

Pyotr Mitrofanovich Shukhmin (1894–1955) was a painter and graphic artist. He studied at the V. N. Meshkov studio and the Higher Art School at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg under A. V. Makovsky and D. N. Kardovsky. In his work, he realistically recreated heroic moments of the revolution and the Civil War. He taught at the Academy of Arts and the Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts in Moscow. He was a laureate of the USSR State Prize (1942) for his work on "TASS Windows." He was also a master of drawing and a portraitist.
