Shukhaev Vasily Ivanovich

Vasily Ivanovich Shukhaev (1887–1973) was a painter, graphic artist, and Honored Artist of the Georgian SSR. He graduated from the Stroganov School (1905) and the Higher Art School at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg (1912) under D. N. Kardovsky. He taught at the Petrograd State Free Art Workshops, the Repin Institute, and the Tbilisi Academy of Arts. He was a master of portraiture, landscape, still life, easel and book graphics, and also worked as a theater designer and creator of monumental mural sketches.
