Shebuev Vasily Kuzmich
1777 — 1855
Vasily Kuzmich Shebuev was a painter, draftsman, and educator. He created works on historical, biblical, and allegorical themes, as well as portraits and monumental compositions for the Kazan Cathedral in Saint Petersburg. From 1782 to 1797, he studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts under G. I. Ugryumov. From 1803 to 1807, he was a pensioner of the Academy in Italy. He became an academician in 1807, a professor in 1812, and the rector of painting and sculpture in 1831. He served as the director of the Tapestry Manufactory from 1821 to 1839 and as the vice-president of the Academy of Arts from 1845 to 1846.
