Rokotov Fyodor Stepanovich

1735 — 1808
Fyodor Stepanovich Rokotov (1735–1808) was a prominent Russian portrait painter and educator. He studied under A. P. Antropov and P. Rotari. From 1762 to 1765, he taught at the Imperial Academy of Arts. In 1765, he received the title of Academician for his painting 'Venus and Cupid'. From 1767, he lived and worked in Moscow, creating a gallery of portraits of his contemporaries that became the pinnacle of 18th-century Russian portraiture.
