Pishchalkin Andrey Andreyevich

Andrey Andreyevich Pishchalkin (1817–1892) was an engraver, a master of reproductive engraving based on the works of Russian and Western European artists. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts under N. I. Utkin. In 1839, he was awarded a large gold medal for his engraving 'The Holy Family' (after Raphael). From 1841 to 1853, he was a pensioner of the Academy in Italy. In 1855, he received the title of Academician, and in 1862, he became a professor for his engraving 'The Assumption of the Virgin' after K. P. Bryullov.
