Osipov Afanasy Nikolaevich

Afanasy Nikolayevich Osipov was a Soviet painter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1968), and Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1973). He graduated from the V. I. Surikov Moscow Art Institute (1949–1955). In his work, the artist focused on the contemporary life of the peoples of Yakutia, creating genre paintings with a strong portrait element in a decorative, two-dimensional style. Key works include 'Collective Farm Board' (1967), the triptych 'Grey Vilyuy' (1969), and 'Building a House in the Mytakh Nasleg' (1972). He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
