Orlovsky Aleksandr Osipovich

Aleksandr Osipovich Orlovsky (1777–1832) was a painter and draftsman, known for his portraits, genre scenes, and battle paintings. He studied in Warsaw in the workshops of J. Norblin and M. Bacciarelli. From 1802, he lived and worked in St. Petersburg. In 1809, he was awarded the title of Academician by the Academy of Arts for his painting 'Cossack Bivouac.' From 1819, he served as a draftsman in the Topographic Department of the General Staff in St. Petersburg.
