Mechev Myud Marievich

Myud Marievich Mechev is a graphic artist, illustrator, and landscape painter. He is a People's Artist of the Russian Federation and a laureate of the I. Repin State Prize of the RSFSR. In 1949, he graduated from the Surikov Moscow Art Institute. He is the creator of engravings for the epic "Kalevala," illustrations for the "Primary Chronicle," and the four canonical Gospels. He has participated in dozens of international exhibitions and held 50 solo exhibitions in Russia, Finland, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, and New Zealand. He was awarded the Elias Lönnrot Grand Silver Medal (Finland) and the Pontifical Silver Medal "For Humanism and Achievements in Art." His works are held in the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the Vatican, the U.S. Library of Congress, and other museum and private collections.
