Matveev Alexander Terentyevich

Matveev Alexander Terentyevich (1878–1960) was a sculptor, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, Doctor of Art History, and professor. He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under S. M. Volnukhin and Paolo Troubetzkoy. A member of the "Blue Rose" and "World of Art" groups, he worked in portraiture and monumental sculpture, creating symbolist compositions. In 1918, he participated in the "monumental propaganda" plan.
