Golovin Alexander Yakovlevich

1863 — 1930
Alexander Yakovlevich Golovin was a painter and theater designer. He created portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and book illustrations, and worked in decorative and applied arts. He graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1881–1890) and trained in Paris. From 1897, he worked for Savva Mamontov's Private Russian Opera, and from 1901, he served as the chief decorator for the Imperial Theaters in St. Petersburg. He was a member of the 'World of Art' (Mir Iskusstva) group and was named a People's Artist of the RSFSR in 1928.
