Hau Vladimir Ivanovich

Vladimir Ivanovich Hau was a painter and master of watercolor portraiture. He received his initial training under K.F. Kügelgen in Reval. From 1832 to 1836, he was a non-matriculated student at the Academy of Arts under A.I. Sauerweid, receiving a large silver medal in 1836. From 1838 to 1840, he continued his studies in Germany and Italy. He became a court portraitist in 1840 and was named an academician of painting in 1849 for his watercolor portraits.
