Gagarin Grigory Grigoryevich

1810 — 1893
Grigory Grigoryevich Gagarin was a painter and draftsman, author of genre paintings, portraits, and illustrations for the works of A. S. Pushkin. He is also known as a researcher of Byzantine art and the art of the Transcaucasus. In the 1820s, he studied in Rome under K. P. Bryullov. In the 1840s and 1850s, he lived and worked in the Caucasus. From 1862, he was an honorary member of the Imperial Academy of Arts.
