Bogolyubov Alexey Petrovich

Alexey Petrovich Bogolyubov (1824–1896) was a painter and master of marine and battle scenes. From 1850 to 1853, he studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts under M. N. Vorobyov. In 1853, he became an artist for the General Naval Staff. He was named an Academician in 1858 and a Professor in 1861. A member of the Peredvizhniki (Itinerants) since 1873, he spent his later years primarily in Paris, where he founded the Society for Mutual Aid of Russian Artists in 1878. He was also the founder of the Radishchev Art Museum and a drawing school in Saratov.
