Yakovlev Boris Nikolayevich

1890 — 1972
Boris Nikolayevich Yakovlev was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the RSFSR (1962), and a corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1958). He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under A. M. Vasnetsov and A. S. Stepanov. He was a member of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AHRR) from 1922 to 1932. He taught at VGIK and became a professor in 1960. He is considered the founder of the Soviet industrial landscape. Yakovlev's works are characterized by a broad painting style and impasto texture.
