Serov Vladimir Alexandrovich

1910 — 1968
Vladimir Alexandrovich Serov (1910–1968) was a Soviet painter and graphic artist, People's Artist of the USSR (1958), and President of the USSR Academy of Arts (1962–1968). He studied at the Leningrad Academy of Arts under V. E. Savinsky and I. I. Brodsky. During the Siege of Leningrad, he headed the Leningrad branch of the Union of Soviet Artists. He is known for his historical-revolutionary paintings, such as 'V. I. Lenin Proclaims Soviet Power' and 'Walkers with V. I. Lenin,' for which he was awarded USSR State Prizes. He also created numerous portraits, landscapes, posters, and book illustrations.
