Moiseyenko Evsey Yevseyevich

Evsey Yevseyevich Moiseyenko (1916–1988) was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the USSR (1970), and a full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1973). He graduated from the Academy of Arts in Leningrad (1936–1947), where he studied under A. A. Osmerkin. From 1958, he taught at the I. E. Repin Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (becoming a professor in 1963). In his work, primarily focusing on battle scenes, landscapes, and portraits, his paintings dedicated to the Civil War of 1918–1920 hold a significant place. Moiseyenko’s painting style is characterized by a broad, expressive manner. Notable works include the cycle "Combat Years" ("The Reds Have Come", 1961; "Comrades", 1963–1964; "Sweet Cherry", 1969; "Victory", 1970–1972). He was a laureate of the I. E. Repin State Prize of the RSFSR (1966) and the Lenin Prize (1974), and was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
