Melikhov Georgy Stepanovich

Georgy Stepanovich Melikhov (1908–?) was a Soviet painter and People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1967). He graduated from the Kiev Art Institute, where he later taught and became a professor. He served as secretary of the board of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Melikhov's work is characterized by a pursuit of psychological authenticity in genre scenes, such as 'Young Taras Shevchenko in K. P. Bryullov's Studio' (USSR State Prize, 1948). He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
