Aristarkh Vasilyevich Lentulov (1882–1943) was a Soviet painter and one of the founders of the 'Jack of Diamonds' group (1910). He studied in Penza, Kiev, St. Petersburg (under D. N. Kardovsky), and Paris (under A. Le Fauconnier). In the 1910s, he worked in the styles of Cubism, Futurism, and Orphism, reinterpreting the traditions of icon painting and lubok. From the 1920s, he shifted toward a realistic perception of the world, creating industrial landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. He was a professor at Vkhutemas-Vkhutein and the Moscow Art Institute, and also worked as a theater set designer.
