Korin Pavel Dmitrievich

1892 — 1967
Pavel Dmitrievich Korin was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the USSR (1962), and full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1958). He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1912–1916) under K.A. Korovin and S.V. Malyutin. He was extensively involved in restoration, including work at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Dresden Gallery. He is known for his monumental canvases (e.g., "The Vanishing Rus") and portraits of the creative intelligentsia, for which he was awarded the Lenin Prize (1963). He also created mosaics and stained glass for the Moscow Metro (Komsomolskaya-Koltsevaya, Novoslobodskaya) and Moscow State University.
