Kasiyan Vasily Ilyich

Vasily Ilyich Kasiyan (1896–1976) was a Soviet graphic artist, People's Artist of the USSR (1944), and full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1947). He studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts under M. Švabinský. He was the author of engravings, posters, and illustrations characterized by expressive strokes. He served as a professor at the Kiev Art Institute and Chairman of the Board of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR (1962–1968). He was a laureate of the State Prizes of the Ukrainian SSR.
