Fyodorovsky Fyodor Fyodorovich

Fyodorovsky Fyodor Fyodorovich

1883 — 1955
Fyodor Fyodorovich Fyodorovsky (1883–1955) was a Soviet theatrical designer, People's Artist of the USSR (1951), and a full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. He studied at the Stroganov School (1902–1907) and participated in Sergei Diaghilev's enterprise (1913–1914). From 1927 to 1929 and 1947 to 1953, he served as the chief artist of the Bolshoi Theatre. Fyodorovsky's work is inextricably linked to musical theatre; he is known for his heroic-epic set designs for the operas 'Prince Igor', 'Boris Godunov', 'Khovanshchina', and 'Sadko', for which he was repeatedly awarded the USSR State Prize. He was awarded the Order of Lenin and other state decorations.
