Zardaryan Oganes Mkrtievich

Oganes Mkrtievich Zardaryan was a painter, People's Artist of the Armenian SSR, and corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. He graduated from the Yerevan Art College (1933–1937) and the Repin Institute of the All-Russian Academy of Arts (D. I. Kiplik's studio). From 1967, he headed the Department of Painting and Composition at the Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University. His work primarily focused on the history of Armenia, Soviet reality, and the region's nature. He was a master of still life and portraiture. For his painting 'Spring' (1956), he was awarded a silver medal at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. He was decorated with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, the Order of Friendship of Peoples, and various Soviet medals.
