Yakupov Kharis Abdrakhmanovich

Kharis Abdrakhmanovich Yakupov was a painter, graphic artist, People's Artist of the USSR, and corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts. He graduated from the Kazan Art School (1939), where he later taught (1948–1952). From 1977, he headed the creative painting studio of the USSR Academy of Arts in Kazan. He was the author of historical and genre paintings, portraits, and book illustrations. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Patriotic War (2nd class), and the Order of the Badge of Honor.
