Ugarov Boris Sergeevich

Boris Sergeyevich Ugarov was a Russian painter, People's Artist of the USSR, and a full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR. In 1951, he graduated from the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (workshop of V. M. Oreshnikov), where he later taught, becoming rector in 1977. He was named a professor in 1971. He is the author of historical and revolutionary paintings, works on the Great Patriotic War, as well as portraits and landscapes. He was a laureate of the USSR State Prize for his works 'For the Land, for Freedom' (1972) and 'Rebirth' (1980). He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and other Soviet medals as a veteran of the Great Patriotic War.
