Sidorov Valentin Mikhailovich

Valentin Mikhailovich Sidorov (1928–2021) was a Soviet and Russian painter, a master of genre painting and lyrical landscape. He was named a People's Artist of the USSR (1988), an Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, and served as Chairman of the Union of Artists of Russia (1987–2009). He was a laureate of the USSR and RSFSR State Prizes. A graduate of the Surikov Moscow State Institute of Fine Arts (1954), he studied under P. I. Kotov, F. P. Reshetnikov, and V. G. Tsyplakov. He had been a member of the Union of Artists since 1958.
