Shegal Grigory Mikhailovich

Grigory Mikhailovich Shegal was a painter, professor, and corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts. In 1925, he graduated from VKhUTEMAS (A. V. Shevchenko's studio). He taught at the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute (1937–1941) and at VGIK (1947–1956). He authored paintings on historical-revolutionary and everyday themes, as well as portraits and landscapes. He was awarded several USSR state medals.
