Savitsky Konstantin Apollonovich

1844 — 1905
Konstantin Apollonovich Savitsky was a painter and educator. He was one of the first in Russian art to depict the labor of workers in his painting 'Repair Work on the Railway'. From 1867 to 1871, he studied at the Academy of Arts, and from 1871 to 1876, he refined his skills in Paris. He became a member of the Peredvizhniki (Society for Traveling Art Exhibitions) in 1874. He taught at the Baron Stieglitz Central School of Technical Drawing (1880s) and the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1891–1897). He became a full member of the Academy of Arts in 1895, and in 1897, he was named an academician and director of the Penza Art School named after N. D. Seliverstov.
