Savinsky Vasily Evmenyevich

1859 — 1937
Vasily Evmenyevich Savinsky was a painter and educator, known for his historical paintings and portraits. From 1875 to 1882, he studied at the Academy of Arts under P. P. Chistyakov and P. M. Shamshin. In 1882, he was awarded a large gold medal and the title of First-Class Artist for his painting 'Nizhny Novgorod Envoys at Prince Pozharsky's'. From 1883 to 1888, he was a scholarship holder of the Academy of Arts in Germany, France, and Italy. He taught at the Baron Stieglitz Central School of Technical Drawing (1888–1916) and at the Academy of Arts (1889–1930). He became a professor and head of a painting studio in 1911 and a full member of the Academy of Arts in 1906.
