Rabin Oskar Yakovlevich

Oskar Yakovlevich Rabin (1928–2018) was a Russian artist and one of the founders of the unofficial "Lianozovo" art group. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Riga (1946–1948) and the V. I. Surikov Art Institute, from which he was expelled for "formalism." An active participant in the "unofficial" avant-garde, he was an organizer of the "Bulldozer Exhibition" (1974). In 1978, he emigrated to France and was stripped of his Soviet citizenship.
