Pukirev Vasily Vladimirovich

1818 — 1890
Vasily Vladimirovich Pukirev (1818–1890) was a painter, educator, master of genre scenes, creator of historical paintings and portraits, and an illustrator of works by N. V. Gogol and I. S. Turgenev. From 1849 to 1855, he studied at the MUZhVZ under S. K. Zaryanko. In 1855, he received the title of non-class artist. He taught at the MUZhVZ (1858–1873). In 1860, he was awarded the title of Academician for the study "Girl," and in 1863, he became a professor for the painting "The Unequal Marriage."
